When I think of a farmhouse unfinished is the first word that comes to mind. The ever so popular farmhouse style has completely taken over. It’s molding into so many different decor styles; modern farmhouse, mid-century farmhouse, vintage farmhouse, and even cottage chic farmhouse, to name a few. I’ve been exploring my favorite farmhouse twists over the past few months and it’s safe to say I’m a mix of all of the above.
Adding the right accessories can make all the difference.
It shouldn’t matter what style your big furniture pieces are because almost anything will fit into the farmhouse vibe. That’s good news right?! Starting from the top, and possibly the most obvious way to add a farmhouse vibe, is to switch out your fixtures.
Start with lighting, lighting can make or break a room, and I’m not even talking about table lamps. This is an easy way to switch things up in a rental to make it feel more like your home. For a formal dining you can’t go wrong with the rectangular or round chandelier. Hanging mental pendants are great for over the sink and/ or breakfast nook table. Currently crushing on ALL of these, y’all.
These are a few of my favorite things…
Adding galvanized decor, unfinished or white woods, and wire accents is an easy way to add farmhouse style. Especially since you no longer have to search for such unique pieces since they’re so easy to find these days. Major stores like Target, Pier 1, Kohls, and even Wal-Mart have dipped their toes in the farmhouse craze.
And because I’m feeling crazy you can scroll through the next collection to swoon over some bigger farmhouse pieces that I’m crushing on. However, you’d be surprised how simple it is to transition your current pieces to fit your new style. Paint, throw pillows, accents, and lighting goes a VERY long way!
