DIY [No Sew] Grain Sack Cafe Curtains

Hey y’all!! Im beyond excited to share my most recent DIY project. As you may know we’re just now settling into our new house and my mind is racing with decor plans. Too many plans, not enough time!! I was a bit iffy about taking down the original blinds to this window but I’m so glad I did. It unknowingly pushed me to hop onto this project. You’ll have to excuse the unfinished backsplash and insane brightness. Clearly I needed something covering that window!

After what seemed like weeks of searching for the perfect window treatment I gave up. You don’t even want to know how much these curtains are going for from a major store.. ($60.oo) so surely you could understand my excitement when I gathered the guts to try to make them myself.

Heres what you’ll need.

  • A tape measure
  • Grain sack fabric (at least a yard)
  • Scissors
  • Hanging hardware w/ clips
  • Curtain rod

Sounds pretty cheap right? Thats because it IS! I purchased this fabric from a little shop on Etsy called Cottage Designs. 1 yard was 21 bucks, and that, my friends, is why I love doing things myself.

The fabric arrived frayed and raw and I absolutely loved it just how it was.

After you figure all your measurements bust out that tape measure and get to cutting. Use the edge of a table, and a weight on the other edge, to ensure a straight cut. (or a ”close enough it’s barely noticeable” cut)

I cut out 2 panels and used some curtain rings with attached clips to hang them up. These are the exact clips I used and they are great quality considering the $8 price tag.

I’m so happy with the way these turned out and it took me all of 30 minutes to get it done!
